Being an RN or graduate nurse at camp is a whole new way to experience nursing. Nurses set and administer medications to all of our campers, “man” the nursing station, perform special medical care, are responsible for all first aid and work closely with the Camp Coordinator on medical and safety issues. Camp nursing combines the beauty of nature with wonderful people of all ages and abilities – a setting that will change your life and the lives of many others.
This is a great opportunity to experience the camp nurse setting without making a full summer commitment. RNs and LPNs may sign up for one or more weekends. Responsibilities include medication set up and administration, standard first aid and assessment, and the overall well-being of our campers and staff. Housing and a weekend stipend is provided. Live at camp and “man” the nursing station, set up and dispense medications to over 85 campers each week (up to 1000 medications daily), perform daily medical cares for campers, and work closely with Head Nurse and counseling staff to guarantee quality medical care for our campers. Nurses are contracted from June 1 – August 1 and are on duty from Sunday at 11 a.m. until Friday at 2 or 4 p.m. and on call every other night. We are looking for nurses to work all nine weeks in the summer but we will consider applications for 2 weeks or more. Be part of the team that makes a camper’s one week of vacation the best ever! Live at camp, set up and administer medications, perform standard first aid, and perform daily cares for campers. Nurses attend camper trips and travel throughout camp with small camper groups throughout the week. Some respite campers require PRNs for behavior management and may need extra support from staff members, including nursing staff. Respite nurses are on duty from Sunday at 11 a.m. through Friday at 4 p.m., on call every other night, and are contracted from June 1 until August 22. We are looking for nurses to commit to the whole summer but will consider applications for 2 weeks or more.
