Youth and Teen Sessions at Camp Wawbeek

The following sessions are designed for individuals with:

• physical disabilities (such as Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, etc.)
• little or no cognitive delay
• the ability to communicate their needs and interests, and independently make decisions.

For those with no physical disability and mild to moderate cognitive disability, Trailblazers sessions are designed to meet these needs.

Weekend Sessions (one staff person is paired with three campers)

During weekend sessions, campers take a break from their usual winter routine and enjoy the outdoors and comfortable camp accommodations. Trained Easter Seals counselors and a registered nurse are on site to support campers in a safe and fun weekend. Camp Wawbeek is a unique environment that allows a camper to experience many different things that they may not be able to otherwise while socializing with their peers.

Youth & Teen Weekend (Ages 7-18) • January 30 - February 1, 2009 • Fee $280

Come to the annual Kids and Teens Winter Reunion! Hang out with your friends from the summer, see some of your favorite counselors and get out of the house for a weekend. Enjoy outdoor winter activities (if it's not too cold) then come inside and defrost by the fireplace while playing games and listening to music.

AAC Weekend (Ages 7-21) • January 23-25, 2009 • Fee $280

Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek will be holding a winter session for kids and teens who use assistive devices for communication. Campers will have the opportunity to learn more about using their devices independently in a recreational setting. We will have professionals on hand to assist the campers with programming the devices to be more accessible for recreational purposes. Campers will participate in outdoor winter activities such as sledding, and playing in the snow as well as warming up by the fireplace and drinking hot cocoa.

Summer Sessions (one staff person is paired with three campers)

One Week Session • June 28 - July 3, 2009 • Fee $695
Two Week Session • June 28 - July 9, 2009 • Fee $1,390

Participate in a variety of activities with friends new and old! One moment you could be scrapbooking, the next playing BINGO, and later you might be canoeing Mirror Lake!  Get away from it all, have fun outdoors, and meet fantastic people.

Transition Team (Ages 16-25) • August 16-21, 2009 • Fee $695

This session is for campers who are adventurous and full of life as they face the opportunities and challenges of young adulthood and increased independence. Enjoy traditional camp adventures and gain insights into transitioning to college, a new job or living alone. Spend one overnight at a University of Wisconsin campus to explore finding accessible housing and transportation, applying for college, and advocating for workplace modifications. What a fun way to learn about transitions!
